Capitol of Farofaen Home of the Thornfields The Capital City of Farofaen and stronghold of Baron Darius Thornfield. A circular city built within the former realm of the Elves. Founded on forestry, struggling to produce in recent days.
Observed from a distance and slightly elevated as you are, Thornfield strongly resembles the hub of a wagon wheel. It’s roads branching off in the cardinal directions from it’s circular walls. The walls themselves are imposing, and wooden, silver streaks running noticeably down the length of the logs. There are a few farmhouses scattered around the outskirts but they seem a bit out of place. There is a small cluster of tents by the eastern gate. There is some slow construction of a moat going on. Otherwise for a city of it’s size Thornfield seems… quiet. The banners of Thornfield flap lazily in the gentle breeze.
If the party arrives during the day the gates are open, but two guards stop and question them about what they are doing in Thornfield but are easily sufficed.
Demographics
Mostly human, with a significant minority of elves and half elves. Humans make up the majority of the wealthy segments of society as well as the craftspeople and merchants. Elves make up much of the menial labor and servants.
Government
More or less socialist. While there are expensive premium options, the city provides cheap or free by voucher, goods and services for registered populace.
Defenses
Guards, school of magic, circle of protection, wooden palisades, building a moat.
Industry & Trade
Lumber is the primary export. The most prized species are Cloudleaf, and Ironwood. Imports are food from the east, and metal and special or magical items from the north.
Infrastructure
The City has no sewage system. The shit is dropped out of windows like medieval europe. Sawdust is spread on top to moderate the smell. Carried out of the city to fertilize surrounding fields, but there’s always a backlog.
Assets
Lots of lumber, cloudleaf and ironwood. Though the stores are depleted much farther than they should be.
Guilds and Factions
City Watch Loyal to the Thornfields, treated fairly well, low staff due to demands from the army, threats to the south. Foresters Guild The most powerful of the non-government factions, holds a lot of sway in the city due to its reliance on lumber. Most concerned with the war to the South, but will be eager to do away with the bandits to the east, to be ready for when the lumber starts flowing again. Mage School Close rival to the Foresters guild, and often at odds with them, but it is a cold war at most. Most interested in the troubles to the East, then cult activity and rumors to the south. Thieves Guilds Venomcry is the primary thieves guild, their headquarters is here, and their namesake poison comes from the Searsap forest to the West. They are not benefitting from the current upheaval. Five Finger Viscounts Upstart thieves guild in the region, thriving on current upheaval, moving in on VC’s territory.
Geography
Gently rolling hills, the fresh water comes from the spring by the giant ironwood.
Natural Resources
The woods are the foundation of this city. From lumber to game. There are a few surrounding farms as well.

Markets and Market Prices
Thornfield has just about anything someone might need, bakers, coopers, smiths, etc. etc. Here are a few notable establishments:
Octavius’ Outrageous Oddities Very messy/disorganized general goods store. Find anything for 1.25x list price (+95 very rare, +85 rare, +75 uncommon, +50 common)
Thornfield Street market Mostly wooden crafts (Cloudleaf (tree), Ironwood (tree)) some not great looking produce, a bard, mead, wine.
Blacksmith Branded triple A. Female blacksmith, young deaf male apprentice.
Above average (1.2x?) due to lack of resources, fighting in the south
citizens relief (.75% of normal) on BASIC goods at most stores (.9% of normal) on basic adventuring supplies?
